The joys of Cd. Valles living. Cooking hot, and not nearly reaching the top yet. This is today's max temp. and humidity as per my little weather unit.<\/p><\/div>\n

So whose idea was it to do land clearing at 110 degree weather \u2013 who exactly was the idiot \u2013 oh yah, I guess that would be me.<\/p>\n

Yesterday Javier and I hired a crew to clear the acre or so of scrub trees along the front of the property. This is all machete work \u2013 Mexican style. I decided to go out and help them with my chain saw (thanks to Dan and Marlys Slaubaugh of Wolford, North Dakota).<\/p>\n

I finally made it to the land site at about 3:00 o\u2019clock after a morning and early afternoon of running around trying to put out other fires (thankfully, not literal ones today – just figurative ones this time).<\/p>\n

My field work crew were busily finishing off with disking the field, but my machete crew were no where in sight. I can\u2019t really say that I blame them, but this is Cd. Valles, Mexico after all, and the climate here is just hot. Not much that one can do about it.<\/p>\n

Apparently one of the guys did show up in the morning and got some clearing done. I guess the rest of the guys decided that ma\u00f1ana would work just fine.<\/p>\n

My \u201clonche\u201d (lunch) that I took out for them today went uneaten. Maybe they will show up tomorrow.<\/p>\n

I, on the other hand, did get some chainsaw work done. I will try to get an early start tomorrow and beat the extreme heat of the mid day. The thermometer reading outside was 109.7\u00b0 Fahrenheit this afternoon as a high, with 68 % humidity. But the inside living room temperature was a nice, cool 100.9\u00b0, so one might as well be outside working.<\/p>\n

I am off to bed as I have trees to cut tomorrow.<\/p>\n
